Description:
Maha Shivratri is celebrated outside at the Gopeshwar Mahadev Mandir at Barsana Dham. This year we will begin the celebration inside the Temple with bhajans and a spiritual discourse. Then we will have a barat jhanki and procession to the Gopeshwar Mahadev Mandir which will include a dance in front of the mandir. During more chanting, everyone is welcomed to do puja at the shrine. Puja includes offering milk, water, fruit, incense and flowers to Lord Shiv, circling the lingam, and ringing the bell. We conclude with blowing of the conches and a rousing arti to Lord Shiv whose one vision of baby Krishn led him to dance in ecstasy for hours and hours and hours. Lunch prasad is will then be served.
